Voltage Optimisation Trials in and around Boston Spa.

Boston Spa is at the centre of an innovative trial to reduce voltage on the electricity network with the intention of reducing electricity bills for all customers. A local resident, Keith Jackson, has been working alongside Northern Powergrid and the new system 'Boston Spa Energy Efficiency Trial' (BEET) , which uses voltage readings which are sent every 30 minutes from Smart Meters, has been operating for the past few months. Leeds City Council is making some changes to the parking arrangements in Boston Spa. This has been arranged in conjunction with local traders, the Boston Spa and Wetherby Disability Support and Campaign Group, the Ward Councillors and the Parish Council. The changes are as follows: High Street Car Park (next to SALT): there will be a new disabled parking space with wheelchair access, some of the standard parking spaces will be converted to short stay, the motorcycle bays will become standard parking bays and motorcycles can use these. Other car parks: disabled spaces will be provided in the Church Fields and Stables Lane car parks. Read More...

Whether you’re part of a group or just keen to see behind the scenes, find out how heat and electrical energy is generated whilst learning about recycling. Visitors will need to be 16 years old and over. Booking is required and you need to be available for the full session, which takes around 2 hours. The service will only be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, with crews operating throughout the rest of the festive period, including Sundays. So that no-one misses out on their bin being emptied, collection days will change from Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December), with those scheduled for Christmas Day being made a day early. Collections will then take place a day later than usual from Tuesday 26th December until Sunday 7th January, returning to normal from Monday 8th January. Read More...

Northern Gas Network will be carrying out works under two way lights on High Street in Boston Spa between 4th and 6th December 2023 to install a gas connection to a new development. The lights will be in place from 9.30am on Monday morning 4th December and will remain in place for 24hrs until Wednesday morning 6th December. The lights will be manually controlled between 7.00 and 19.00. NGN are aware of the late night shopping events taking place in Boston Spa on Wednesday 6th December and have confirmed the High Street will be clear of Traffic Management as early as possible on Wednesday morning. There will be a signed diversion in place via *A61 Harrogate Road *Ring Road Moortown. *Ring Road Meanwood *Ring Road Adel *A660 at Lawnswood roundabout *A660 Otley Road *A660 Leeds Road Bramhope to the A658 Dyneley Arms junction *Pool Bank New Road *Main Street Pool /Pool bridge into Huby /Weeton and through to the roundabout at Pannal – and vice versa. Over the 3 days of the weekend (Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July) more than 30 family orientated events are being planned by various groups in the village using Church Fields, Millennium Gardens, Stables Lane Park, the Village Hall and St Mary’s and the Methodist Church. The events range from music, open gardens, exercise classes, a classic car rally, art, sports, the Wimbledon Finals on a big screen and a “Party in the Park” on Stables Lane. The Scarecrow Trail will take place in the week before the festival with characters appearing in residents' gardens and shop premises.
