Remembrance Day Service Sunday 11th November
This year we commemorate the centenary of the signing of the armistice which brought the First World War to an end.
Following a community service at St Marys Parish Church (commence 9:45) the congregation (including Scouts and Guides etc) will walk down the High Street to the War Memorial where the traditional Act Of Remembrance will take place just before 11:00.
Given the significance of this year a “Poppy Wall “ has been created by sewing around 2000 poppies knitted by residents of Boston Spa ( and beyond ) onto netting. The Poppy Wall will be displayed outside the Village Hall next to the War Memorial. A massive thank you to all who have contributed to this tribute to the fallen of both wars and other more recent conflicts.
In addition local school children will me making their own tribute by making poppies and planting them around the War Memorial.
Crime & Police Matters
The PC shares residents concern about the apparent recent increase in crime ranging from car theft to antisocial behaviour . We have been advised that our ward councillors are meeting senior police officers on October 18 and we have asked them to relay our concerns and asked for advise on how the public should react both in preventing crime and how to react when encountering it.
In response to concerns raised about crime and antisocial behaviour in our area our local PCSO Emma Leighton is holding a security advice session at the Village Hall Thursday 8th November 6.30-7.30pm, come along, meet Emma and find out more about crime prevention.
For emergencies as always in the first incidence call 999, to report less serious crimes such as Antisocial Behaviour the advice from our PCSO Emma is to call 101 or report it online.
